Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze an Argentine rape and revenge film: La fiesta silenciosa (Diego Fried, 2019), with the purpose of investigating the deviations and continuities of the subgenre that we can find (focusing on the role of the protagonist, the role of the male characters, and the meanings constructed at the end of the film). To do this, we will first define, in a few words, what this type of film is about and refers to, then we will list some notions from the book Rape-Revenge Films: A Critical Study (2011), written by Australian film theorist Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, and finally, we will delve into the textual analysis of the film with the theoretical background that we have previously developed.
