Abstract

Landscape Imagination and Parallel Worlds: On Harun Farocki's Parallel Series

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze Harun Farocki's Parallel series from the perspective of the representation of nature conceived as landscape. First, the relevance of the concepts of nature and landscape will be examined, situating this analysis within the framework of aesthetic issues that arise when considering nature as an object of the image in the Anthropocene context. This reflection will allow for an exploration of the practices involved in image-making, adopting an agentive approach to Farocki's productions. Finally, a specific analysis of the series, presented between 2012 and 2014, will be conducted, considering its particularity within Farocki's filmography and its contribution to contemporary debates on the logic of landscape.
