Abstract

Despite the significant development of Argentine Classical Cinema studies, the role of music and its composers remains unexplored. This article examines the trajectory of composer George Andreani who arrived in Argentina towards the end of the 1930s initiating a prolific career in the film music field in both Argentina and Chile until the late 1950s.

Andreani was part of a flux of foreign workers who migrated to Latin America to work in the national film industries contributing with their experience and skills. I state that studying his career could shed light on the relevance of film music during the Golden Age of Argentine Cinema, to understand better how was the job of film music composers, what were the requirements posed by the studios, and in what ways the international influences shaped film music composition at a local level.
