Memory and deconstruction of the seventies female militant experience based on the analysis of the film Norma Arrostito, Gaby, la Montonera (2008) by Luis César D'Angiolillo.

Abstract

In this article I analyze the memory produced about the career of Norma Arrostito in the film Norma Arrostito, Gaby, la Montonera (2008). Unlike other works that study the processes of figuration of the role of women in contexts of political violence and rupture of the established order, I propose to examine the construction of memory from cinema since it is from their memory that women militants were able to expand their representational margins beyond the roles of mother and wife. I will propose to return to Linda Nochlin's notion of “personhood” and Audre Lorde's concept of “eroticism” to place the experience of female militancy in a new semantic space.
